Library Digitization Grant

Support for academic libraries to digitise theses, dissertations, institutional publications and scholarly archives, and to make them preserved, searchable and accessible.

This is a planned grant concept and is not yet open. Eligibility criteria, value and deadlines will be published when the Foundation opens the call.

Overview

Many institutions hold decades of theses, dissertations, institutional publications and archives only in print — vulnerable to loss and invisible to researchers outside the building. This grant concept supports the digitisation of priority collections together with the metadata, rights review and repository publication needed to make them genuinely useful.

Who can apply

Intended for: Academic libraries, Colleges & TVET institutions, Universities.

How applications are assessed

Selection criteria will be published with the call.

Applications are screened for eligibility and completeness, reviewed and scored by qualified reviewers who have declared any conflicts of interest, and decided by an authorised committee. Automated tools may help check completeness, but funding decisions are always made by people. Read the grant guidelines.

Expected outcomes and impact

  • Priority print collections digitised to agreed standards
  • Digitised items published in an institutional repository
  • Library staff able to continue digitisation independently
