Governance Framework

The Foundation’s governance framework sets out who makes which decisions, how conflicts of interest are managed and how the Foundation is held accountable.

Principles

• Separation of roles. Recommending, deciding and approving are separate responsibilities held by different people.
• Human decision-making. Grant and funding decisions are made by authorised people and committees, never by automated systems.
• Conflicts of interest. Everyone involved in decisions declares conflicts and is excluded where a conflict exists.
• Records. Important decisions and changes to grant records are logged in an audit trail that cannot be edited.
• Transparency. Approved reports, policies and governance documents are published in the Transparency section.
